Sailing: Windermere ideal for GP

NEARLY ideal conditions on Windermere greeted the start of the GP 14 North West Area Championships.

In a brisk north-easterly the fleet of 27 boats, including nine from the home club, made a clean start for the first race on Saturday.

Matt Mee and Andrew Brook (13842) rounded the first mark just ahead of a bunched group of Martin Brennan and Alistair Knott (Moby), Mike Senior and Chris Tattersall (Racey's Rocket), David and Lynn Lawson (Layla) and Justin Jones and Liz Pugh (Too Fingers).
