Kendal Town 1, Clitheroe 4.
Kendal's early season promise was blown away by a second 4-1 home defeat in four days.
Fast-breaking Clitheroe carved holes through Kendal's static back four while Town's own strikers were given precious little service from an ineffectual midfield.
The visitors rocked Town in the eighth minute when Craig Sargeson intercepted a poor pass from Paul Sparrow, jinked past two defenders and rifled a shot into the right hand side of the net.
On 25 minutes David Foster, restored to the team after passing a late fitness test cracked in a 25-yard shot which was bound for the bottom corner. Clitheroe keeper Andy Payton got a hand to it, but could only beat it out to Lee Ashcroft who slid in the equaliser.
Hopes that it would spur Town on were dashed six minutes into the second half when a long cross field ball allowed Sargeson to run round the right of the flat-footed Town defence and hammer in his second goal.
Form there on it was all Clitheroe. Salisbury made two good saves, but was helpless in the 64th minute when a square ball across the area picked out Gary Jackson who smashed in Clitheroe's third.
Ten minutes later a looping ball landed practically on the Kendal goal line and up popped Jackson to stab it in.
Clitheroe could easily have had another four and Kendal's misery was completed when Ricky Mercer was dismissed for a second yellow card after a clumsy tackle in the 87th minute and assistant manager Barry Stimpson ordered from the dugout by referee Mr A. Halliday for abuse from the dugout.
