10:32pm Saturday 18th February 2006 in Sport By Dennis Aris
Warrington Town 0, Kendal Town 1.
Russ McKenna's 11th minute goal earned Kendal Town all three points to keep them on track for their biggest match of the season when UniBond League First Division leaders Mossley visit Town's Planet Conservatories stadium, Parkside Road, on Tuesday night.
Second-placed Town went into today's match at Warrington Town without their captain and prolific goalscorer Lee Ashcroft who has just started a three-match suspension after being red-carded against Ossett Albion last month.
Tomy Heseth's re-jigged side survived the potential banana skin against lowly Warrington, however, to take their points tally to 52 points from 28 games to keep them four points ahead of Fleetwood Town, who have a game in hand.
Mossley have 56 points from 28 games and, if Kendal can win on Tuesday, the deficit can be cut to a single point.
It promises to be a cracker of a match between the two top free-scoring teams in the league, Mossley having netted 64 times this season and Kendal 59.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
