SIX hundred competitors from all over the country will be converging on Hawkshead tomorrow to take part in one of the most scenic running and walking events in the country.
Athletes from as far away as Aberdeen and London will be strapping on their running shoes to participate in the inaugural Hawkshead Trail the first of the new Puma Trailfox Lakeland Trails 2006 series.

Dozens of spectators are expected to line the race route of an event that has proved so popular that the senior entry limit was reached more than a month ago.
Many are competing in the 15km off road course to raise funds for Coniston Mountain Rescue and the Hawkshead Recreation Ground Fund.
International athletes returning from the recent World Cross Country Championships in Japan are also taking part, attracted by the prize list from sponsors Puma more than £1,500 worth of prizes are on offer.
