The long haul to Lincolnshire brought a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Spalding United, but luck did not entirely desert Kendal Town as their main challengers for automatic promotion also had disaster days.
With two games now left to play Kendal retained second place in the UniBond League First Division table.
Third-placed Fleetwood were hammered 4-0 away by Shepshed Dynamo, leaving them four points behind Kendal, but with three games to play.
Woodley Sports, in fourth-place were beaten 4-0 away at Eastwood Town and are six points behind Kendal with three games to play.
Sixth-placed Stocsbridge Park Steels are 10 points adrift after a 1-1 draw at Bridlington, but still have four games to play.
One of those matches is home to Kendal Town on Tuesday night.
Only league leaders Mossley managed a 2-1 win taking the points at relegated Bishop Auckland.
