THE Lakeland Open Judo Championships drew in its usual top class young competitors from all over the country from Aberdeen in the north to Bristol and London in the South including a player from the Isle of Man.
Included in the 150 plus entries was a European Cadet medallist.
On the Saturday the 16 to 19-year-olds fought some hard battles with Adam Dixon from Kendal Club gaining a well deserved bronze medal and Anthony Lloyd just missing out on the medals with a fifth place.
Annie-Jo Gregory fighting in the Under-52 kilo category also claimed a bronze, having just come back off holiday the previous day.
Sunday's competition for the under 16-year-olds was a much larger entry and consequently the medals were harder to come by.
Eden Carr from Kendal's entry managed a bronze medal with Zac Howard gaining a creditable fifth place in his first major tournament.
