WINDERMERE'S professional Simon Edwards admitted there was ‘life in the old dog yet’ after winning his third Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Welsh National PGA Championship.
Edwards, winner in 2002 and 2003, took the title via a play-off after locking horns at the top of the leaderboard on three-under-par with a determined Gareth Jones (Sandiway), who fired a best-of-the-week four-under-par 65 to rein in the overnight leader.
The duo then tackled the 18th hole at Royal St David’s three times before Edwards finally sunk the winning putt.
It earned the 39-year-old two-time PGA Cup player a cheque for £6,150, with Jones pocketing £4,100. European Tour regular Sion Bebb (Vale of Glamorgan) finished third at two-over-par.
The win capped a magnificent week for Edwards, who played steady and consistent golf throughout the week with rounds of 67, 69 and 68.
