LEYLAND completed a Division 1 and Division 2 title double in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier League on Saturday evening.

League chairman Norman Poole presented the trophies to First XI captain David Makinson and Second XI skipper Chris Dovey back at Fox Lane.

A draw for Barrow - 11 points adrift at the start of play - in their match at Chorley, meant Leyland's 61-run victory over Preston at West Cliff has secured the top-flight title with one weekend to go.

Kendal played their final game of the season when hosting Morecambe at Shap Road and captain and pro Ross McMillan flourished in the finale with 85 out of a total of 152, including 13 boundaries out of 15 in the innings.

Morecambe sub pro Arsian Mir captured five for 36 and then Pakistan U19 star hit an unbeaten 48 to seal a six-wicket win for the visitors.

Ikram Ullah made 64 against his former club.

Netherfield had yet another frustrating day as they settled for a draw at Lancaster, who made 190-9.

After Jamie Heywood hit 51, Netherfield pro Nick Kruger was in the wickets again and took 5-61.

Despite good knocks of 45 and 51 in the Netherfield reply from Ben Haddrick and Alex Atkinson respectively, they came up agonisingly short on 188-9.
