Running - Tom waits for high 'Noon' to be flagged home

HELM Hill Runner Tom Addison didn’t know most of the Noonstone fell race course on Saturday, but still managed to hold off the competition to win.

Addison made his way around the tricky course, which started from Malkinholes, and climbed over Stoodley Pike, just keeping in contention with the leading pack, but made his move just over a mile from home when he picked up the marker flags.

In a three way tussle with Ben Mounsey and Simon Harding, Addison edged clear, despite falling on the last descent, to lead Mounsey and Harding home in 1.12.05.

Club colleague Rick Stuart also had a strong run on the nine mile course, which proved difficult under foot, to finish in ninth in 1.18.03.

Staveley’s Rob Jebb finished second in the Inov-8 High Cup Nick race from Dufton on Saturday.

Jebb, running for Bingley, completed the nine mile course in 1.04.05, just 90 seconds behind Ellenborough’s Ricky Lightfoot.

Kendal’s Dave Banks was 38th, ahead of Gavin Thomas (Kendal) in 40th.

MARK Addison continued where he left off as he returned to Kendal Winter League action after the half term.

Addison, running for Helm Hill, finished 18 seconds clear of Howgill Harrier Sam Fisher, the only other winner in the senior races of the series, with James Craig coming home third.

Mel Hyder’s dominance continued around the Sedbergh course as she finished almost two minutes clear of Sam Noble and Lou Roberts from Kendal.

Wharfedale runners Declan Bulmer, Phil Done and Charlie Lowrie won the U17, U14 and U12 races respectively.
