The Cumbrian Galoppen is an annual competition between the five orienteering clubs in Cumbria – Barrow, Borderliners, Lakeland, Warrior (Ambleside) and West Cumberland. It is based on a series of monthly events through the year, at which competitors from these clubs are awarded points according to their finishing position.

Last year, Lakeland was runner-up to West Cumberland. Events are open to all and are also attended by members of clubs from outside Cumbria.

Newcomers regularly turn up at these events and are helped by friends or other orienteers to get started.
