A DISABLED footballer from South Lakeland has been called up to the England Mencap team for European Championships in Switzerland.
Chris Wolf, who plays for Kendal’s Riversiders FC, was one of five players from the team selected for trials at Warwick University.
And after impressing scouts and coaches through five-a-side to 11-a-side trials, he has now been chosen for the national team.
Chris said: “I can’t believe it.
"Five months ago we had no opportunity to play football but thanks to Julie Wright and Westmorland FA for coaching, we have not just a local football club but I have got the opportunity to play for England.”
Chris is one of just 15 players selected for the England squad and will travel to Wales in March for a training camp before pulling on the Three Lions shirt in May.
l Chris is looking for sponsorship to assist with travel and accommodation. Call Karen Kidd at The Oaklea Trust, on 01539-735025 with offers of help.
