THE Division 1 title in the Kendal and District League will be decided in a showdown between Glaxo A and Ibis, as both sides arrive at the last game of the season equal on points.
League leaders Ibis saw a six-point lead over Glaxo A disappear despite a 7-3 victory against Glaxo B this week.
Ibis raced into a 3-0 lead courtesy of Steve Dixon, Trevor Nicholson and James McGrath’s wins.
Tony Whitehouse fought back for Glaxo with a resounding four-setter, though Ibis pulled further ahead when Dixon and McGrath netted comfortable victories for a 5-1 lead.
Late four-set wins for McMahon and Whitehouse saw the Ulverston side sneak three points in Ibis’s 7-3 triumph.
Glaxo A moved level on points with Ibis after a 10-0 whitewashing of Natland C.
Louise Thompson was unfortunate, losing out 11-7 and 11-4 in nail-biting five setters. Despite these scares, it was plain sailing for the Glaxo trio of Tom Smith, Dymond and Woodhouse, who each earned three wins.
Fourth-placed Burton A kept their hopes alive of beating Natland A into third place, as they battered Natland B 10-0.
Division 2 leaders Burton C just prevailed 6-4 against mid-table Burton D after Tony March and Martin Wakelin won two apiece, while Bryan Rhodes won all three for the D team.
