Cycling - Social ride to honour 'Mr KV'

KENT Valley Road Club is honouring the memory of former secretary and treasurer Derek Tunstall with a memorial social ride from Milnthorpe Square on Sunday, March 27.

Derek, who died last September after a sudden illness, was affectionately known 'Mr Kent Valley' after his 46-year stint as club secretary.

So the planned pre-season ride will follow lanes up his beloved Kent Valley to Kentmere for a cuppa stop at Maggs Howe before retracing on a slightly different route to Milnthorpe - a distance of about 40 miles.

The ride starts at 10am and all club member and friends are welcome for what the Kent Valley committee hopes will become an annual curtain-raiser to its racing and social calendar.
