Kendal player/coach Ian Voortman offers his weekly view.
THE disappointment after a loss like the one we suffered at the hands of Caldy is hard to put into words.
The manner in which we control possession and territory for long periods only to concede breakaway tries when we let our concentration levels drop is infuriating.
I’m sure the neutrals would have enjoyed an open, free flowing game played on a fantastic surface and the bonus point we earned should be valuable later on in the season, but it still doesn’t make the bad taste in our mouths disappear.
In the build-up to our crunch clash away to Morley we will be concentrating on coming up with ways to convert time spent in our opponents 22 into points (preferably tries).
For some reason the sight (or smell) of the opposition tryline sees our play turn nervous and frantic and transfers normally assured players into hot-headed individuals capable of any number of errors.
I am convinced that a bit more patience and composure at these key times will see our fortunes improve greatly.
Iain Hudson hopes to resume training this week after a couple of weeks rest following his ankle injury.
Morley will probably be too soon for him, but we are hoping Garry Holmes and Joe Mallinson recover from their niggles in time.
