GLAXO’S Grant Woodhouse beat Burton’s Graham Coupe to take the band 1 singles title at the Kendal and District Table Tennis League’s annual Tournament Finals night.
Playing at Ibis Sports and Social Club, Woodhouse won three sets to one, 11-5-, 5-11, 11-8, 11-9.
Woodhouse then paired up with Glaxo clubmate Keith Dymond to win his second title of the evening in the open doubles. beating John Fearon and Harry Carter in the fifth 18-6, 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8.
Ibis’s Steve Dixon showed all his to peg back a 2-1 deficit to take the veteran’s title ahead of Burton’s Coupe 11-6, 9-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8.
The band 2 singles crown went to Burton’s young Matthew Pickering, who saw off Natland’s Howard Pimblett’s comeback from 2-0 down to 2-2 with an 11-7 win in the fifth.
Dallam’s Elliot Webster won the band 3 single title 11-5, 11-8, 10-12, 11-4 against Kirkby Stephen’s Jack Thornborrow, while Burton’s Stephen Baxendale triumphed in a hard-fought handicap singles 12-10, 13-11, 11-13, 12-10.
Natland’s Louisa Bevan won the ladies singles, beating clubmate Louise Thompson 11-6, 11-3, 14-12 and she teamed up with Steve Dixon to take the mixed doubles 7-11, 11-6, 16-14, 11-7.
Glaxo’s Callum Dymond won the junior singles 6-11, 21-19, 11-7, 11-8.
In the junior doubles borthers Stephen and Peter Baxendale retrived a 2-1 deficit against Callum Dymond and Dallam’s Tom Carling to win 11-7, 10-12, 5-11, 11-4, 11-7.
