SEDBERGH Wanderers put some space between themselves and Burneside at the bottom of the league by claiming four points from two games this week.
On Thursday they defeated Kendal Celtic 4-2 and followed it up with a home 1-1 draw with Keswick on Saturday to leave them four points clear of Burneside, with two games in hand.
Celtic took the lead on Thursday, only for Oliver Wales to level, but the visitors were back in front before the break.
Joe Clare brought Sedbergh level again following a goalmouth scramble before keeper Ben Close saved a penalty, which spurred them on to victory as Wales completed his hat-trick.
And they backed up the win with a 1-1 draw against Keswick . Tim Baines gave Sedbergh the lead by slamming home after his initial effort was saved, but with 15 minutes to go Keswick levelled for a point.
Wetheriggs United came from behind to claim victory against Endmoor KGR as they closed on Kirkoswald at the top of division one.
Endmoor took the lead after 25 minutes when Sean Atkinson headed home at the back post from Shane Lambert’s free kick.
But Wetheriggs equalised on 65 minutes, with a long-range shot and they grabbed a second five minutes later to turn the game around and move within a point of Kirkoswald. who scored that one. Wetheriggs took the lead on about 70 minutes, Grant Davidson scoring a volley from the edge of the area.
Elsewhere Penrith Rangers defeated Shap 5-2 to climb to fifth in the league.
A Jason Tucker hat-trick against Appleby Reserves moved Kendal United a step closer to the division two title on Saturday.
Tucker fired three first half goals - a deflected shot, a header and a strike to the bottom corner - to give United a comfortable half time lead.
And further goals from Nathan Chambers and James Scott made it 5-0 while Wetheriggs United Reserves - United’s closest rivals - were thumped 6-0 at Alston Moor SC, leaving them six points adrift in second.
Ibis look destined for another season in division two after going down 3-1 at Lunesdale United.
Chris Ellwood hit the post in the first half and Lunesdale’s keeper made some smart saves, but it remained goalless at the break.
Two goals in 10 minutes gave the hosts the advantage and a Josh Hardiker strike wasn’t enough to give Ibis a point as Lunesdale broke well for a third to seal the win.
There were four goals apiece for Jake Routledge, Tom Heap and Zach Clark as Ambleside United Reserves maintained their division three promotion push with a 14-2 win at Wetheriggs United A.
Corey Vickers and Graham Harrison also got on the score sheet as Ambleside remain unbeaten, leaving them in third spot, six points behind leaders Langwathby United, but with six games in hand.
