ADAM Yates (Maxgear RT) won Sunday's 75-miles Westmorland Tankard Road Race for elite/1st and 2nd category riders on the Old Hutton circuit in 2hrs 59mins 10secs.

Herbalife/Wheelbase's Andy Howdon and Andy Coupe finished eighth and 9th, just ahead of the Cycle Development North West series leader Tom Barras (Cyclepremier).

The event was a CDNW event hosted by the Kent Valley RC.

The supporting 56-mile race for 3/4/W riders went to Francis Pilkington (Bill Nickson RT) in 2-25-30 and Lancaster CC's Mike Wong had a fine ride to finish sixth.

Best local performance in the national series RTTC-Rudy Project Time Trial around Bassenthwaite Lake, also on Sunday, was fourth place by Lynn Jamel (Herbalife/Wheelbase) in the women’s event. She covered one lap in 38mins 37secs.

Kent Valley RC's first club 10 of the season was won by Callum Nicholson in 22-52 from Jonathon Knox in 23-38 with David Baxter third in 23-44.

However, Baxter won the first Jungle Cafe 12-mile hilly time trial on Monday in 30-58 from Andrew Barlow on 33-14 and Tom Gibson's 33-39.

A ride through the Forest of Bowland and scenic Lancashire features in Ribble Valley CC’s Fleet Moss Audax.

The three challenging rides on Sunday, May 22 are the Fleet Moss 212km (132 miles), the Lunesdale Populaire 158km (98 miles) and the Pilgrim’s Way 112km (70 miles).
