THREE members of Kendal Bowmen are to compete at ‘The Antient Silver Arrow’ at Liversedge in West Yorkshire on May 21.
Described at the world’s oldest recorded sport event as it dates back to 1673, the Arrow is won by the first archer to hit a three-inch Black Spot on a target 100 yards away.
The winner becomes the Captain of the Arrow and is responsible for arranging next year’s meeting on behalf of the Society of Archers.
Kendal Bowmen Martin Leonard, Craig Benson and Roger Brasnell will line up at Spen Valley Sports College - with two of them using the historic long bow for the attempt.
