HELM Hill’s Mark Addison was crowned champion of the Kendal Winter Fell Running League at Arant Haw on Sunday.
Addison set a new course record in Sunday’s race, which did not affect the points standings, and finished 50 points clear of second placed Howgill Harrier Sam Fisher, having won all seven of the races he entered in the series.
Helm Hill teammate Niall Till was third in the league on 633 points, while there was a double celebration for the club as Mel Hyder claimed the women’s title by 12 points by winning all eight races she entered.
Wharfedale runners Declan Bulmer (U17), Phil Done (U14) and Joshua Newbold (U12) were also announced as league champions at the presentations.
* Kendal’s Lou Roberts led the Grisedale Grind from start to finish last weekend as she eased to victory and 16th spot overall, while Helm Hill junior Niall Till finished 12th overall in 33.04.
Martin Mikkelsen-Barron of Borrowdale Runners retained his title in 27.41, with Ambleside’s John Hooson third in 29.32.
