PIKE have spawned on the Lancaster Canal and are feeding well with reported catches between 12-15lb.
Tench are also moving on the canal, feeding up and down at the Crooklands area.
Work to install new walkways and new pegs has now been completed at Skelsmergh Tarn which now looks terrific and the water has now been re-opened just in time for the tench season.
Both the Canal and Skelsmergh are under the control of Kendal and District Angling Club.
Day tickets and memberships of KDAC are available from Carlsons Tackle Shop in Kendal.
Good catches of rainbows of up to five and a half pounds have been made at Ghyll Head and High Newton.
Corixa and small black flies are in demand, particular the beetle-imitating corixa.
The beetles can be seen causing a lot of disturbance on the water and the fish come to take them when they settle on the surface.
Tip of the week Frozen boilies without any additives are proving popular with local carp anglers at present.
