WINDERMERE are officially champions of North Lancashire Division 2.
Saturday’s opponents Aspull turned out to be party-poopers. They could not make the trip up to the Lakes, handing Mere the points and the championship - their first league title in many seasons.
Coach Raymond Lee has worked tirelessly to turn Windermere into a well-drilled outfit and was helped by Chris Hayton, from neighbours Kendal RUFC, whose knowledge and expertise were extremely beneficial.
Captain Dan Harrison deserves great credit for the team’s achievements and the amount of time given to the club contributed hugely, along with the support of vice-captain Dan Nield, an ever-present in the side.
Next season sees Mere return to the competitive North Lancs Division 1 and they will be looking to recruit new faces for the season.
This Friday is the annual captain’s night at Dawes Meadow (7pm) and everyone is welcome.
