KENDAL player-coach Ian Voortman offers his weekly view: If someone had offered me two bonus points at half time on Saturday, I would have bitten their hand off.
As a team we have managed to get ourselves mentally prepared for the vast majority of our fixtures recently. If we’re honest, we might have taken our foot off the pedal slightly in the build-up to the Lions game.
The result was that we only had the ball in the Leicester half twice in the opening 40 minutes and spent the rest of the time scrambling to plug holes at the other end of the field.
By the time we managed to secure some quality possession of our own in the second half, we had given ourselves a mountain to climb - but one that proved to be only just beyond us.
Nuneaton arrive at Mint Bridge on the back of a vital win at home against Morley, and like us, will be desperate to secure a win that will guarantee league survival.
The Nuns’ season has followed a similar trend to ours. With a new squad, they struggled to impose themselves initially, but as the season has progressed they have gelled as a unit and presently are playing some of the best rugby in the division.
With this being our penultimate home game of the season everyone is looking forward to a fantastic atmosphere at Mint Bridge. Come down for a bit of rough stuff before it's too late.
