Kirkby Lonsdale 5, Vale of Lune 92
NOT expecting a match on Easter Saturday, many players had made long-term travel arrangements, so only six of the first-team squad were available Although the result was not going to have any difference to league postions, Vale were in determined mood..
The Kirkby forwards competed well but when the ball got to the backs it was a different matter.
Big, long striding, left wing, Owen Hughes soon proved a handful scoring two quick converted tries and five more followed, all converted by Rogerson.
Just before half time Kirkby caught Vale asleep with a quick tap penalty and with his first touch of the ball replacement Jon Law scored in the corner to make it 49-5 at half time.
Vale did not let up in the second half and again scored two quick tries. The Kirkby forwards frustrated their opponents for a spell with Groves, Cooper-Dunne, Dowker and Limbrick driving hard, but Vale reaaserted and pace and power brought them five more tries, three converted.
It have them a big victory and possibly a club try-scoring record for a single match for Hughes.
