KENDAL progressed in the ECB National Clubs Knockout with a four-wicket defeat of Egerton on Sunday.
The Cheshire visitors set a target of188 when all out on the last ball of the innings after James Reynard (42) and Danny Partington (59) with a second-wicket stand of 79 iin 15 overs gave them a solid platform.
Chris Marshall split the partnership and Partington’s dismissal, fourth wicket down at 146, gave Kendal the edge as Nick Lewthwaite (3-23) and Andrew Dugdale (3-27) were the best of the bowlers.
Kendal’s innings saw an early run-out to a direct hit from the fine-leg boundary to remove Gaz Ashburner and Oli Field was soon trapped leg-before.
New opener Jon Miles (60) prospered with Terry Hunte, however, with crisp hitting all round the ground in a third-wicket stand of 80.
Another useful stand of 40 between Marshall (10) and Hunte, eventually stumped for a well-crafted 67, kept them firmly on track .
With victory in sight at 180 for six, it was left to Gary Baker and Nick Lewthwaite to see the spoils at 191 for six with 6.3 overs to spare.
