LEVENS A maintained a strong start in Division 1 of the Rothay League, with an 8-2 away win at newly-promoted Hawkshead A.
Staveley A stayed in second place after narrowly defeating Burneside A, and Bowness A sit in third after their victory over the Coniston A that is still struggling to find a return to form.
In Division 2, another impressive performance by Ambleside A resulted in a third 9-1 victory in their first three matches, this time away at Langdale, and they have already opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the table. Newcomers Lindale moved up to second place alongside Coniston B, with Hawkshead B one point further behind.

ANDY Thornton (Hawcoat Lane) beat Gareth Jones (Dalton Cricket) 21-15 in the final of the Archie Campbell Open Singles, sponsored by Lakeland Ltd, at Queen Park BC, Windermere.
The losing semi-finallists were Steve Carruthers (Windermere) and Kevin Tomlinson (Staveley).
NETHERFIELD’s Open Doubles, sponsored by Independent Asset Management Co, was won by Gareth Jones and Kay Jackson (Dalton CC) with a 21-16 win over mother and son Vi and Tom Dennison (Levens).
The beatne semi-finalists were Steve & Mark Ashburn (Holme), 21-9 to eventual winners, and Colin & Ann Slinger (Burneside), 21-17.
