GIRLS from across Cumbria are being invited to play cricket at a special MCC Spirit of Cricket summer camp held at Netherfield Cricket Club on the July 28 and 29.
Coached by international cricketers Jenny Gunn, Danielle Hazell and Lydia Greenway and costing just £15, the two-day camp is open to girls of all abilities aged 8-14.
The camp will provide a fun environment to either try the game for the first time or further develop their skills in the core elements of batting, bowling and fielding.
The summer skills camps are all part of a special link between the Cricket Foundation’s ‘Chance to Shine supported by Brit Insurance’ campaign and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), to deliver the MCC Spirit of Cricket message to youngsters.
Steve Benson, Cumbria Cricket Board Development Officer, said: “It’s a great boost for girls from the local area to have England women’s players to inspire them.
“As a cricket board we are committed to developing the women’s and girl’s game and have some very promising young players.
“We are helping to launch new girl’s teams at Netherfield and other clubs around the county and this is a great chance for girls of all abilities to come along and have a go”
Bookings are being taken now at: http://mcccamp.chancetoshine.org/ or by calling the helpline on 01937 830812 For more information on cricket in Cumbria contact Steve, steve@cumbriacricket.co.uk or visit www.cumbriacricket.co.uk.
