Voorts View - 'Miss' as good as a smile after Loughborough

ONE always expects a physical test against the students from Loughborough and last weekend was no different.

I was happy with the effort and commitment of the players, and felt that our performance was a bit better than the scoreline suggests.

The visitors were very efficient at making us pay for our mistakes, and although we were in the game for the first 50 minutes, the students had too much gas in their tanks during the last 30.

The end of the longest season ever is in sight, and I, for one, am looking forward to finishing it off with a win against one of our fiercest rivals. If recent history is anything to go by, this will be another humdinger, and well worth a trip over The Moors to Huddersfield.

It is probably fitting that John Ladell plays his last game for Kendal against a team that has so often been on the receiving end of his try scoring performances.

John is easily amongst the most gifted wingers of his generation and a big personality in the dressing room, we wish him well.

A special congratulations goes to Jamie Postlethwaite who scooped the coveted ‘Miss Kendal’ prize last weekend at a star studded event on Shap Road.

Jamie (or shall we say Jemima) beat off strong competition from the likes of Willimena Coxon and Leona Hayton. Seeing the contestants parade in their swimsuits is something I never want to have to go through again.
