NETHERFIELD CC are taking part in a county-wide programme to encourage more girls to take up the game of cricket.
The Cricket Foundation supported "Chance to Shine" programme is helping to provide coaching in some of the primary schools in Kendal as well as Kirkbie Kendal secondary school.
Robbie Lambert from Netherfield and Steve Benson from the Cumbria Cricket Board are the coaches responsible for the new venture.
Assisting them will be England cricketer Danielle Hazell, who has just broken into the national women’s team, and they will be coaching next Monday at Heron Hill School followed at 6pm by a girls-only session at Netherfield CC.
Netherfield have 10 girls currently playing in their junior sides and they will be invited to attend this unique opportunity, along with any new girls, particularly from the schools targeted by the two coaches.
Any girls who may have thought about trying the game and haven’t yet can go along and give it a try.
