KENDAL cyclist Lynn Hamel finished fourth in the women’s national championship 25 miles time trial.
The Herbalife/Wheelbase rider clocked 1hr 4mins 24 seconds on a rolling course in Devon compared to defending champion Julia Shaw who got under the hour with her winning return of 59-20.
Locally, another windswept Kent Valley RC midweek 10 at Milnthorpe was won by David Baxter in 22-38 from Callum Nicholson on 22-46 with Stuart Mounsey third.
Glenn Howarth rode 25-14, Ian Jackson 25-17 and Chris Stilling 25-29. Fastest woman was Judith Irving in 27-46.
Monday’s Jungle Cafe hilly 12-miler from Mint Bridge was also won by Baxter in 30-50. Other leading times were: Andrew Barlow 32-35; Dave Wilkinson 32-51 and Steve Hodgson 32-52.
This weekend sees a full field contest the Lancaster CC open 10 miles time trial on the Levens course on Saturday (6pm) and then Kent Valley’s Bob Swailes Memorial Road Race over six laps of the Old Hutton Circuit on Sunday after rolling out from Endmoor village hall at 10am.
There are 56 riders with Windermere’s Kieren Banlin in a strong Biketreks RT team and Burton’s Callum Nicholson sure to feature.
