WATER polo players Beth Richards and Bethany Bell shared in gold-medal success at the British Gas ASA National Finals.
The Queen Katherine School girls were in the Liverpool Youth team which beat Manchester 9-7 to win the trophy.
Richards finished top scorer with 13 goals and scored twice in the final. After an hour’s rest, Richards moved up several age groups at the finals to play for Liverpool Juniors, who lost 4-3 to an extra-time goal to Manchester Juniors, giving her a silver to add to her gold.
She also competed for the Juniors in the Spring Cup, an open-age knockout, and they emerged 7-4 winners.
Straight after the match Richards was joined by Bell to attend a three-day training camp with the GB Juniors and Development Squads at Marlborough College, Swindon.
Richards subsequently flew to Nantes, France for a three-day inter-national tournament.
