WEATHER was again the winner in this week's cycling time trials with many riders opting out of once again battling with the wind and rain.
Almost half the field failed to show for Border City Wheelers 10 and 25 mile events beside Bassenthwaite lake on Saturday and Sunday.
Nevertheless, Ian Cox (North Lancs RC) won the 25 in 54mins 51secs and Phil Shaw (Lancaster CC), who lives at the Yealands, finished a fine fourth in 59-03.
Berwick rider Harry Armstrong produced a sizzling 20-07 to win Saturday's 10 and Calum Nicholson (Team Wallis-CHH) from Burton was sixth in 21-40.
It was only breezy for Kent Valley Road Club's latest midweek 10, at Milnthorpe, and John Ingham (LCC) was fastest with 22-51 while leading the local times were: Chris Dixon 23-44; Chris Stilling 24-37; Glenn Howarth 24-55; Dave Wilkinson 25-18; Nigel Hooker 25-33; Richard Belk 26-05; and Tony Dixon and Kris Baldock both 26-06.
