TRACK racing is to return to Grasmere Sports after an absence of 15 years.
At their last meeting prior to the sports, which take place on August 28, this year, the directors approved the sports manager’s recommendation to reintroduce track racing.
For this year, as a trial, the racing will be limited to under 17-year-olds only and all entries will be taken on the day.
Sports manager George Gale said he hoped that many of the local Grasmere youngsters will take part and, thereby, ensure that the track racing continues in the coming years.
The under-11 sprint races reintroduced in 2010 will also be in the programme again following their great success last year.
Additionally, to meet some local involvement, the hound trailing has been delayed and will now start at 11am with the senior hound derby at 1.20pm. For further details telephone George Gale on 07783-504029.
