A 31-STRONG squad of Kendal swimmers took part in the Troutbeck Bridge Annual Medals Gala and came away with a grand total of 55 gongs.
Leading the way in the Lakes Leisure pool with a magnificent all-round effort was the outstanding nine-year-old future prospect Ruby Frankland, who won four golds and a silver.
Three of her events saw her battling it out with clubmate Ella Mounsey for gold and earned her to victory in 50m butterfly and breaststroke. But she had to give best to Mounsey at 50m freestyle.
Frankland’s golds at 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley sdaw her confidently hold off strong challenges from Penrith’s Emily Ellwood.
Ten-year-old Christopher Stainton enjoyed success with three golds and a silver.
His day became a series of battles with Barrow’s Fraser McCormack and he pulled off victories at 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley.
Ellwood turned the tables to snatch gold in the 50m backstroke.
Three of the squad, Nicola Capstick and Mia Senior and Ruben Swallow, were gold medal winners among a total of four medals apiece.
Capstick and Senior gave their finest performances in the 100m individual medley , while Swallow produced an outstanding 50m breaststroke.
Seven other gold-winning performances came from James Williams and Scott Womack with two apieice, along with Daniel Armstrong, Brodie Swallow, Ella Mounsey, Emily White and Jane Day.
Supporting these fine performances, many others in the Kendal squad recorded a number of silver and bronze medal-winning performances.
