RECORDS fell at Troutbeck Bridge’s final Club Championship Gala with Stephanie Booth and Scott Munro-Bennett setting new standards in the 200m individual medley.
Booth was just off record pace in the butterfly and backstroke legs of the medley but some hard swimming over the breaststroke brought her back on course and a great freestyle leg saw her bring the club record down to 2.47.28.
Munro-Bennett set his intent from the start as he sought a new record with a relentless pace through butterfly and backstroke.
Holding his pace he powered through the breaststroke before an outstanding fresstyle brought a record of 2.29.77.
Todd Lindsay, Abbey Bissland, Sam Harrison and Lucy Bradbury also ran out confortable winners in their Age Groups.
The 50m freestyle sprints proved popular but Libby Nicholson, Ollie Sergeant, Robert McGurk, Tyne McMillan, James Brooks and Lewis Horrax all emerged as comfortable winners.
Munro-Bennett’s superb gala continued into the 14 and over 50m freestyle finals and the Kendal youngster stormed into an early lead and an immaculate turn and drive home saw him win in 27.56. Hazel Marsh held off the female challengers to win in 32.58.
Munro-Bennett was not done yet though and took a fourth title through the 100m breaststroke, which he won in 1.23.31 Charlotte Thomson had a momentous battle with Lucy Bradbury in the same event but Thomson snatched the win with less than a second between the two, with Laura Garrick also powering to victory in 1.35.92.
