Division 5 North Kendal 5 Didsbury Northern 4ths 4 Kendal edged an epic encounter against Didsbury Northern to keep a positive start to life in division five north going.
The game started at a fast pace, with Northern putting Kendal under early pressure, but it was the hosts who struck first as Ewan Galloway scored on a swift break.
Northern quickly countered and equalised minutes later. The high tempo continued with Galloway scoring again before another goal for Northern ended the first half 2-2.
The end to end play continued throughout the second half and Andy Smith put Kendal ahead as he converted a deflected effort on goal with a great strike. Once again though Northern levelled the game.
Gordon Blunt had a rare foray into the opposition D from right back which saw him deflect a shot and slip it under the keeper for his first goal in three years, before Liam Derome scored a fantastic goal.
Northern pulled another back to make it 5-4 and inflicted heavy pressure in the closing stages but Kendal kept calm and took the points.
Division 4 Windermere 5 Carlisle 1 WINDERMERE Men beat Carlisle 5-1 on Saturday to go two points clear at the top of division four, but Carlisle only crumbled in the last 20 minutes, having trailed 2-1 for most of the second half Steve Heyns had edged his side ahead with a clever deflection but Carlisle soon grabbed an equaliser and it was all-square at half-time. Charlie Long then found young striker Harry Jackson in space and he slotted home to restore Mere's lead.
Scott Santamera finished a tidy passing move for Mere's third goal and Tom Maloney fed Jackson for the fourth. fourth.
And Long unleashed a sizzling shot from the edge of the circle which cannoned in off two defenders for 5-1.
*Windermere 2s beat Ulverston 7-0 in their Sunday Association development league match with goals by Harry Jackson (2), Joe Kay (2), Richie Jackson, Mark Hartnett and Ed Evans.
In division three South Lakes men sit joint bottom of the league after a 6-1 home defeat against Blackpool. The Lakes side have now lost their opening four games.
