Lakeland OC’s Sam Jefferson navigated his way to victory at the North West Orienteering League’s High Pike event in the Northern Fells.
Jefferson stormed to victory in the M16 category on the 3.7km green course, whiel Natalie Beadle (W16) was second.
And it was a similar result in the under 14 category as Adam Bartlett (M14) and Hannah Cleary-Hughes (W14) did likewise on the 3.1km light green route.
Other leading junior results: Yellow 2.6km - Noah Howlett (M14) second, Mary Barron (W12) third; Orange 2.7km – George Hudson-Chang (M14) sixth, Stewart Allison (M12) seventh; Light Green – Kirsten Bell (W14) fifth, James Allison (M14) sixth.
After last week’s victory, Chris Heppenstall (M21) had to settle for second over the 9.9km black course with Heather Burrows (W21) seventh.
On the brown course Pat McIver (M45) was fifth and Richard Wilson (M55) ninth. Other results: Short Brown (6.6km) – Stuart Parker (Warrior, M45) fourth; Blue (5.7km) – Dick Towler (M60) seventh, Malachy Buck (M16) 25th; Short Blue (4.3km) – Judy Burge (W50) eighth, Pauline Richardson (W55) 18th, Richard Day (M65) 35th; Green – Jonny Crabbe (M16) fourth, Pat Rigg (M16) eighth, Janet Nash (W60) 24th.
* Other experienced juniors aspiring for national recognition travelled to Pickering Forest on the North Yorks Moors to compete in an event hosting the UK and Future Champions Cups.
In the Future Champions Cup at Pickering Forest, Carl Edmonds was third in the M18 class and Barrow sisters Laura Jones third W18 and Cerys Jones fourth W20.
On the green course Sarah Jones (W16) was third, Lois Jefferson (W14) sixth and Katie Wright (W16) seventh. Accompanying seniors Rebekah Beadle (W45) won Short Blue and Mark Jones (M45) was ninth.
