North Women’s Hockey League
Bowdon 2nds 2
Kendal 1
Kendal started the strongest against Bowdon and pressured their hosts from the start.
It wasn’t long until Kendal found a breakthrough, the lead coming when Vicky Jones struck home from within the D.
Bowdon tried to hit through the Kendal side to relieve the pressure but the defence was solid and broke the play down well.
In the second half though the hosts turned the game around as Kendal struggled to maintain possession.
And a ten minute spell for Bowdon saw them convert two short corners for a 2-1 turnaround and although Kendal settled they couldn’t find an equaliser.
* In Division Two West Kirkby Stephen edged a seven-goal thriller against Clitheroe to close within four points of leaders University of Manchester.
Cumbria Women’s League
Ambleside kept pace with leaders Ulverston as they defeated Carlisle 2’s 8-0 at the weekend.
Jess Young and Charlotte Russell had fine games in midfield, with Claire Munday, and Donna Robinson supporting well.
Lucy Downham had an incredible game scoring four superb goals, while further goals came from Kelly Williams (2), Charlotte Russell and Bryony Halcrow.
