THE BIKETREKS cycling team geared up for the 2012 season with a team ride to visit the main sponsor in Ambleside.
The long distance training run gave riders the chance to get to know each other better while getting in some important miles ahead of the new season.
A foggy, chilly day greeted a large cohort of the team including Jonny Cregeen on the Manx Missile MK2, Callum Young, Kieren Banlin, Johnny Dodgin, Chris Anderson and Sandy Lockett.
The team toured from Lancaster up to the Lakes to Ambleside at a healthy pace and gave them the chance to test formations as Dodgin and Anderson took on the joint role of patron.
On arrival at Biketreks the team were greeted with hot cappuccinos, but more importantly chatted with staff to better understand the company they will represent through 2012.
A long undulating ride along the opposite side of Windermere going south towards Newby Bridge followed and provided varying pace and a chance for more chat, as Chris turned for home towards Barrow it was just Dodgin left to represent the over 25s.
A big climb into Grange Over Sands followed by a long flat fast ride into a direct headwind all the way back to Lancaster had the team riders switch into 'quietly committed' mode.
With the remaining riders all doing their turns on the front it was a tired but fast moving group that arrived home with over 80 miles on the clock.
