GHYLLSIDE Primary School were the winners of the inaugural Kendal Primary Sports Hall Athletics Tournament at Kirkbie Kendal School and Lakes Leisure.
The event saw seven schools from around Kendal compete in a decathlon style event with pupils from years 4,5 and 6 forming teams of six.
The challenges ranged from a target throw to a standing high jump, shuttle runs and a balance test, with students from Kirkbie Kendal helping to officiate the afternoon.
A series of sprints concluded the tournament before Ghyllside were crowned champions, with St Mark’s Primary School in Natland the runners up.
A team from Kendal Athletics Club will now select a group from the tournament to represent Cumbria in a schools’ tournament in Manchester next year.
