IBIS have hit pole position in Division 1 of the Kendal and District League, taking a three point lead from closest rivals Natland A.
Ibis reached the summit of the table with a 10-0 drubbing of lowly Burton C and the Kendal side’s James McGrath, Steve Dixon and Trevor Nicholson will be hoping to go one better than their second place last season.
Natland A edged out Burton A 6-4 in a pulsating clash with John Fearon netting three wins in a majestic display, while team mate Mark Ashburn contributed two victories to the Natland account with wins against Chris Knowles and Martin Wakelin.
Harry Carter completed the success with victory against Wakelin as Julie Stitch performed a damage limitation role for Burton with triumphs against Ashburn and Carter.
Defending champions Glaxo A are ominously sat in fourth after six matches, but remain close to the leaders with an 8-2 victory against Dallam A.
Dallam’s Lawrence Duncan made a successful debut at a higher division by beating Paul Ackred, while the Milnthorpe side doubled their points haul when Craig James and Duncan teamed up in the doubles for an 11-7 win in the fifth set against Tom Smith and Ackred.
But Ulverston based Glaxo were too strong and were well worth their win, as Smith and Alan Turner remained unbeaten with three successes apiece.
In Division 2, Dallam B are 16 points ahead of second placed rivals Dallam C, who have a game in hand over their club mates.
In their latest match, Dallam B were held to a 5-5 draw by their D team. Stuart Allan won two matches for Dallam D against Tom Parkinson and George Pearson, while George Pearson and James Parkinson similarly recorded a brace for the B team.
In Division 3 Dallam E have a 40 point advantage from second placed Dent A.
