CUMBRIA I’s trip to Wrea Green near Preston ended in defeat against Lancashire 3.
A close affair started with the four singles and Cumbria did well to split them with two hard-fought victories going to Steve Chappell and Ashlea Chester.
Chappell recorded a 16-21, 21-15, 21-10 win, with Chester winning 21-13, 11-21, 22-20.
In the first round of mens and ladies the spoils were shared with Nicola Highmore and Louise Jackson winning 21-15, 20-22, 21-17 in three sets.
Chappell and John Parkinson followed suit with an 18-21, 21-18, 21-17 win.
After the crossover games the scores were tied at 6-6 after Highmore/Jackson took victory, followed by Chester/Jackie Sewell coming out on top 21-19, 21-11.
All square going into the three mixed matches, both sides needed two wins to take the win, but unfortunately for Cumbria I they lost all three games to go down 9-6.
