KENDAL AC’s Diane Priestley had a strong race in the third round of the Mid-Lancs Cross Country as she finished third in the L55 category at Astley Park, Chorley.
Priestley was closely followed by Marion Smith in fifth as South Lakes athletes put in some strong runs on a classic but testing course.
In the senior men’s 10.1km race, Michael Hoyle (Kendal AC) ran well for eighth in the U20 age group and 36th overall, while Mike Walsh won the V60 class ahead of Steve Varney in second.
In the V50 category Peter Acklund (Kendal AC) was 35th and Paul Percival-Smith (Kendal AC) 62nd.
Helm Hill Runners continue to dominate cross country races in the north with Mel Hyder winning the U20 women’s race and finishing fourth overall in the senior event.
Lauren Munro-Bennett was sixth in the girls U17 class, with Chris Richards coming third in the U15 boys race.
Sarah Atkinson (Helm Hill) continued her fine form in winning the U11 girls race in style, whiel Erin Procter from Kendal AC was 20th in the U15 girls race.
The next round of the series is at Hyndburn, Accrington, on Saturday, January 14.
