IN their first fixture following the Christmas break, Cumbria I won on their travels to Shropshire I.
The spoils were shared after the first round of singles as Ashlea Chester won in the ladies and Steve Chappell won a hard fought three-set match.
In a close game, the doubles were also shared , with the Cumbrians’ victories coming through the pairings of N Highgrove/L Jackson and A Chester/J Sewell.
Cumbria took the cross over games 3-1 with both ladies pairs winning, supported by S Chappell and J Parkinson winning their match.
Maintaining a narrow lead, Cumbria needed just one victory from the three mixed doubles and it was achieved when J Parkinson/L Jackson won their match.
Although losing the other two matches, Cumbria completed a double over Shropshire with an 8-7 scoreline.
