PROMISING young golfers in Cumbria are being encouraged to sign up to a talent-spotting programme in the county.
The scheme is aimed at helping talented juniors to develop their skills and enable them to reach their potential.
The programme is in its third year and will feature 12 hours of quality coaching from PGA qualified professionals between April and June.County Academy programme co-ordinator Keith Newton said: “This will be of interest to anyone who is keen to play golf, someone who would like to learn more about the game or players who are already members of a club or have a golf handicap and want to develop their skills.“ Centres will be based at Carus Green, Appleby, Penrith, Eden, Barrow, Whitehaven, Bentham and Carlisle golf clubs and the first steps towards getting involved in the 2012 County academy programme will be held in February.
The talent assessment days will be held at Penrith Golf Club on February 18 and Carus Green Golf Club on February 25 and both are aimed at 9-15 year olds.
