SEDBERGH School’s Eilidh Sproul was celebrating victory at the Cumbria Schools Cross Country championships at Cartmel Racecourse at the weekend.

The school also had fine runs from Chris Richards (year 8/9) and Imogen Burrow (year 7) who both became county champions.
Queen Katherine School student Cole Blaikie won the minor boys race.
* IN the Kendal Winter Fell Running League Wharfedale’s Sam Watson led the field home at Whitestones, with Tom Gibbs from Ambleside second.
Helm Hill’s Mel Hyder dominated the women’s race following on from her success the previous weekend at Firbank.
The senior race at Firbank was won by Ambleside’s Jamie Luxmoore.
The next race in the series is at Birkrigg Common, Ulverston on Sunday.
