PEOPLE across the South Lakes are being urged to help their communities celebrate London 2012.
The Local Leaders scheme, set up by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, aims to bring communities together so everyone can share in the Games and also see the torch relay.
Projects can range from simply organising transport to the nearest part of the torch relay for communities that are not along the route, through to fancy dress events and street parties to mark the passing of the torch.
LOCOG are also asking gardening enthusiasts to consider sprucing up their gardens with a range of London 2012 designs and have a dedicated website for people to log onto to find out more and request support.
