Wigan 2nds 1
Kendal 6
KENDAL traveled to Wigan with two players making their first team debuts in James Quill and Theo Swayne, both acquitting themselves very well in the arena.
Kendal had much of the game and led 2-0 by half time as Wigan set up defensively, reluctant to leave their half.
Captain fantastic Ewan Galloway and Steve Barclary netting the goals, with Barclay scoring his second flick in as many weeks.
There was more of the same in the second half with a rake of penalty corners unrewarded, but open play goals from Andrew Smith, Barclay and Galloway increased the lead to 5-0.
Wigan gained their only short corner of the game and inevitably scored but a third from Galloway sealed a 6-1 victory which puts Kendal third, four points behind leaders Preston 3rds, who they play on Saturday.
Windermere and South Lakes matches were postponed, but South Lakes 2nds recorded a 2-0 home win against Mossley Hill 3rds to move into fourth spot in division eight north.
* Windermere's Cumbria Sunday Association development team played their South Lakes HC counterparts at the Lakes School and won 9-1. Goals came from Richie Jackson (5), Luke Blezard (3) and Jeff Jackson (1).
