ADVENTURERS in the South Lakes will be able to scale new heights from mid-February when the Lakeland Climbing Centre opens its new 24m abseil shaft.
The abseiling facility is the latest development at the centre, which also boasts the tallest climbing wall in the country.
A spokesman for the centre said: “We dare you to try the new 24m free hanging abseil. Launch yourself off the platform and hang by a thread!
“We now attract a wider customer base appealing to a vast range of visitors to the Lake District area offering a fun, fantastic day out, come rain or shine and a truly unique visitor attraction.”
The abseil will open to the public on Tuesday, February 14, Wednesday, 15 and Friday, 17 between 12.30-1.30pm and users must be aged eight and above.
An aerial adventure project is also being developed at the site which is due for completion in the summer.
There will be a via ferrata leading from the ground floor to the top floor via a series of easy climbing and balancing challenges, protected by a safety cable and visitors will also be able to journey through the building overcoming challenges en route.
