North Lancs Football: Rangers miss chance to go top

CARNFORTH Rangers missed their chance to join Highgrove FC at the top of the North Lancashire and District Football League when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Galgate.

Both sides are still in the title hunt but Rangers sit two points behind Highgrove in second with Christrian Needham getting the hosts goal.

Cartmel Reserves maintained sixth position as they recorded a 3-0 home win against Storeys.

Graham Rhodes, Joel Drinkall and Matthew Dodwell kept Cartmel four points clear of Marsh United in seventh, who won 1-0 at home to Morecambe Royals.

In the Craven and District FA Senior Cup, Ingleton crashed out in the third round to Rimmington.

Paul Bruce scored for Ingleton but four goals for the visitors sent them through.

Cartmel Reserves are now four points adrift at the bottom of division one after losing 3-1 to second placed College AFC.

Bolton le Sands’ safety hopes were boosted with a 3-2 away win against third place Freehold FC.

Youngster Dan Dixon joined veterans Andy Banks and Anthony Lewis on the score sheet as Sands moved eight points clear of the drop zone.

Fellow strugglers Grange were comprehensively beaten 5-0 by title favourites TIC Dynamos of Overton/Middleton.

In division two a 4-2 win for Carnforth Rangers Reserves at Westgate Wanderers kept them on the promotion trail.

Rangers maintained their 20 points lead over Slyne with Hest Reserves thanks to goals from Dave Chippendale, Nathan Downham, Paul Oldfield and Rueben Bragg.
