ONLY a strong run by Helm Hill’s Chris Richards in the U14 race could prevent a Wharfedale whitewash as the Kendal Winter League moved to Barbondale.
A record entry took part in the race and Richards finished almost a minute ahead of the chasing pack to earn a back to back victory following his win at Fairmile last week.
Wharfedale runners Sam Watson and Chris Newman occupied the top two in the seniors race with the former winning by 32 seconds.
Bowland’s Steve Swarbrick finished third in the toughest race of the series, with more than 1,000ft of climbing to the summit of Castle Knott.
Mel Hyder’s winning streak continued in the ladies race as she came 11th overall. Sam Noble was second some four minutes behind with Wharfedale’s Kirsty Hall third.
James Hall from Wharfedale won the U17 race with clubmate Joshua Newbold claiming U12 victory.
